Tybee Island - Charles Weldon Williams, 79, died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at his home following his battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. Charlie was born in Camden, Arkansas and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his years in the service, Charlie was a local painter and later retired from Miller Painting Company. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 154 on Tybee Island. His hobbies were fishing, boating and hunting. In 1959, Charlie married his beloved bride, Woodie and renewed those vows to her 50 years later on May 29, 2009. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Williams and Minnie Lee Williams Blom, step-father, Ben Blom, sister, Gwendolyn Findley and daughter, Dorcia Lee Williams.
He is survived by his bride, Willaunell "Woodie" Williams of Tybee Island; sons, Johnny Williams Tabitha of Guyton; Chuck Williams Tamera of Rapid City, SD; grandsons, Tucker Williams and Lucian Williams and granddaughter, Kacey Williams; brothers, John W. Williams Marie of Killeen, TX; sister, Frances Clanton Jack of Webster, TX; brothers-in-law, Royce Woodard Terry, Garey Woodard Anita of Tybee Island; Randell Woodard Linda of Orange, CA; sisters-in-law, Wilma Woodard of Wilmington Island and Denise Winn Randy of Tybee Island and several nieces and nephews and his lifelong friends, Phillip Edwards of Tucker, GA; and Basil Smith, Jr. of Port Neches, TX.
Visitation: 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Funeral: 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, conducted by Reverend Dr. David C. Laughner.
Pallbearers will be Royce, Garey, and Ellis Woodard, Joey Smith, Randy Winn and Albee Clark. Honorary Pallbearers will be Randell Woodard, Basil Smith, Jr., Phillip Edwards and Harry Treadaway.
Burial: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
